Bridgeton's historic district is the largest in New Jersey, covering upward of two thousand structures spanning colonial, Federal, Victorian and early twentieth century architecture along Commerce Street, Broad Street and the Cohansey River. The scale of surviving original housing is remarkable and so is the flooring inside it, wide-plank pine, chestnut and early oak that in many cases has never been refinished at all.
